The Nun was shot entirely in Romania, in real settings in Bucharest and its surroundings, as well as in Transylvania. Two 14th century castles and an abandoned medieval fort were used in the production. It also shot in Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, aka Count of Dracula; at the Mogoşoaia Palace, which camped at St. Vincent Hospital where Father Burke and Sister Irene meet; and at the Bucharest Parliament Palace which was used for the Vatican.
